Fighting has raged for the fourth consecutive day between the FARDC (Armed Forces of the Democratic Republic of Congo) and AFC/M23 (Armed Forces of the Congo/M23) fighters in several areas of South Kivu, including Kaziba, Kamanyola, Lubarika, and Rurambo. The Congolese army claims to have repelled an M23/AFC attempt to advance toward the hills of Rurambo. It also denounces bombings, which it alleges originated from the Bugarama area, that struck homes and civilian infrastructure, including schools and churches, causing civilian casualties. The AFC/M23, for its part, accuses the Burundian army of being responsible for these bombings.
U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) has announced that, effective immediately, they have halted immigration and naturalization processes for individuals originating from nineteen countries, with these including: Afghanistan, Burma, Burundi, Chad, Cuba, Equatorial Guinea, Eritrea, Haiti, Iran, Laos, Libya, Republic of the Congo, Sierra Leone, Somalia, Sudan, Togo, Turkmenistan, Venezuela, and Yemen
